Shariah Manager, Advisory&Research, Manager Awareness & Training


Manager, Shariah Compliance >

  • Ensure that organization's practices, business and operations are in compliance with Shariah based on the Shariah guidelines and rulings issued by Bank Negara Malaysia’s Shariah Advisory Council and other relevant Shariah authorities such as the Securities Commission, etc.
  • Undertake the Shariah review function, namely regular assessment on Shariah compliance in the activities and operations of the organization, with the objective o f ensuring that the activities and operations carried out by the organization do not contravene with the Shariah.
  • Examine and evaluate the organization’s level of compliance to the Shariah, remedial rectification measures to resolve non-compliances and control mechanism to avoid recurrences.
  • Develop, implement and promote Shariah compliance culture within the organization including providing Shariah compliance training to staff, assisting functional heads to developing processes & procedures, set up Shariah compliance monitoring processes, etc.
  • To supervise the monitoring of all prescribed limits of all business units to ensure Shariah compliance with related Takaful legislation
  • Work on all Shariah compliance matters pertaining to existing and new products and services, including the end to-end product development process, which start from product structuring to product offering, including but not limited to prospectus, promotional materials and other related matters.
  • Advise internal management on various regulatory and legal issues and assist in developing internal policies in line with Shariah Compliance needs.
  • To proactively co-ordinate with the relevant parties (ie. regulators, solicitors, company secretary, trustees, internal staff) to ensure timely and accurate regulatory Shariah compliance requirements including reporting and filings.
  • Act as the focal point for communication between the management and legal adviser, company secretary and Bank Negara Malaysia on all Shariah compliance issues.

  • Consulting Bank Negara Malaysia who may consult the Shariah Committee for any issues.
  • Act as representative or contact point for the organization and the Group on any Shariah matter or issues.
  • Ensure that company's practices, business and operations are in compliance with Shariah based on the Shariah guidelines and rulings issued by Bank Negara Malaysia’s Shariah Committee and other relevant Shariah authorities such as the Securities Commission, etc.
  • Review of Legal Documentation and Product Paper submission for Shariah compliance on behalf of the organization, prior to submission to the Bank's Shariah Advisory Committee
  • Co-ordinate the submission and obtain Shariah Advisory Committee's approval on product packages and related matters of the Bank within an agreed period of time
  • Co-ordinate the submission and obtain Shariah Advisory Committee endorsement and pronouncement ("Fatwa") day-to-day operational issues as required by the organization
  • Co-ordinate, organize and manage the Bank's Shariah Advisory Committee Meeting
  • Secretary for the Bank's Shariah Advisory Committee Meeting
  • Co-ordinate, organize and manage the organization's Shariah Audit process in relation to reporting to the Shariah Advisory Committee
 
Recognised degree in Shariah, Law, Islamic Banking/Takaful, Business Administration or any related discipline with exposure and knowledge in Shariah – Usul Fiqh and Fiqh Muamalat
  • An MBA/MA in Shariah or other equivalent professional qualification would be an advantage
  • 5 years of experience in Takaful Industry.
  • Possesses qualifications demonstrating sound knowledge in Shariah principles and familiarity with Takaful products and services
